ABOUT DREW SPRINGER

Untitled design (4).png

Senator Drew Springer is Christian and a lifelong conservative Republican who fights to preserve Texas values, promote economic development and works to end excessive regulations that stifle business. Drew is a firm believer that life begins at conception and supports measures to limit or eliminate abortion. A staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, as our state representative, Springer has fought to decrease the limitations of law-abiding gun owners from protecting themselves and their loved ones.

Drew was raised, educated, and works in Senate District 30. He grew up in Parker County, is in the Weatherford HS Hall of Fame, graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He spent fifteen years working for a railcar company as an accountant and eventually overseeing three divisions as president. He left to join his father's financial services business in Parker County, where Drew has specialized in agricultural managed futures for over a decade. Drew and his wife of 30 years, Lydia, reside in Cooke County. They have three children, a daughter-in-law and one grandson.

ISSUES:

PROPERTY TAXES – Voted to cut property taxes by $5 billion.

ECONOMY & JOBS – Fix the economy by balancing the budget and limiting government intrusion and frivolous regulations.

FUND LAW ENFORCEMENT – Committed to fully funding local police departments.

BORDER SECURITY – Worked to add more border patrol agents and better technology on the border to keep drug cartels, gangs, and human traffickers out of our state.

EDUCATION – Make sure more money goes into the classroom, not the bureaucracy. Co-Authored HB3 that increased the investment in teachers and classrooms by over $9 Billion while still lowering school property taxes by an average of 8 percent. Successfully fought to reduce standardized testing and will continue to do so as your next senator. High-stakes testing should not be used during the COVID-19 pandemic.

RIGHT TO LIFE – 100% pro-life. I have been proud to help pass key pro-life legislation, including bills banning the practice of dismemberment abortions, requiring that abortion complications be reported, and prohibiting abortions after 20 weeks. I have fought and will continue to fight to prohibit abortion facilities, such as Planned Parenthood, from receiving your taxpayer dollars.

SECOND AMENDMENT – I have consistently received top ratings from the NRA and TSRA because I am committed to protecting our right to bear arms. Since entering office, we have reduced and eliminated regulations on the use and ownership of firearms, including passing legislation to allow for open carry and campus carry. Every session I have authored and passed several 2nd Amendment bills including changing the classification of suppressors in Texas, reducing stringent finger-printing requirements, and removing the penalties for forgetful CHL holders at airports
